Reserved eBART Parking Available for Antioch Station
There’s a silver lining for commuters in East County. Commuters are overwhelmed with driving down parking lanes to find a spot before hopping on the train, a process that can take up to an hour of searching. To solve this problem and for your convenience, you can reserve a parking spot as of January 16, 2018. For more information, continue reading below.
BART’s Select a Spot System
As of Tuesday, January 16, permits will be available at 11:00 a.m. via online registration. It is important to keep in mind that the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) district will have limited permit availability – distributing an initial quantity of roughly 100 reserved spots. These permits will ensure rider’s, going through Antioch’s new eBART station, a reserved parking stall until 10:00 a.m. on weekdays.
In some situations, people will spend up to an hour trying to find a place to park. BART’s Select a Spot system removes this inconvenience. However, with this convenience comes a greater price: Each permit will reserve a parking space for a monthly fee of $105. To claim your spot, you will need to register at www.select-a-spot.com.
New Antioch and Pittsburg Stations
Permits will be exclusively sold at the new Antioch station in the Highway 4 median east of Hillcrest Avenue. There will be a total of 1,012 parking stalls. These reserved spaces will not be available at the Pittsburg Center station, due to the current limit of 262 spaces in total. The eBART train cars will start running through the new Antioch and Pittsburg stations this May 2018.
Those without the assurance of a designated parking spot need to pay to leave their motor vehicle at eBART stations Monday – Friday between 4:00 a.m. – 3 p.m. Drivers will have to pay a fee of $3 per day if they have no permit. Drivers who purchase a one-day reservation in advance will pay $6. Long term travelers will have the option of buying a $7 per day permit.
