Semi Rollover at Soda Springs Causes Diesel Spill
Around 100 gallons of diesel were transported across the lanes to the shoulder. As the scene was cleared, a hard closure was anticipated. However, one witness reported that vehicles were driving through fast.
Authorities Determining Cause of Accident
Fire department emergency responders assessed trauma and determined one person had suffered an injury in the semi rollover at Soda Springs. Whether they were transported to a hospital is unknown. CHP traffic accident detectives are examining the accident to determine how it occurred.
Semi Trucks and Rollover Accidents
Big rigs are massive and heavy, and a semi rollover at Soda Springs can lead to severe injuries and fatalities for those in nearby vehicles. In addition, while diesel fuel is less combustible than gasoline, it can still cause hazardous spills that pose environmental risks. Rollovers can occur due to jackknifing, high winds, and for other causes, making these vehicles particularly dangerous during such incidents.
Liability in an Accident Involving a Semi Truck
If you’re injured in an accident caused by the negligent driver of a big rig, the trucker and their employer may be held liable. This is due to the respondeat superior doctrine, which holds company owners accountable for their employees’ negligence. Negotiating a settlement with a company with legal representation can be challenging without the assistance of an experienced lawyer.
An accident lawyer can determine fault in an accident, collect the evidence needed to support your injury claim and handle negotiations with the at-fault party’s insurance company for you. The injury lawyer will work hard toward obtaining maximum compensation to cover all of your losses.
Recovering Personal Injury Damages After an Accident
With the help of a lawyer specializing in semi-truck accidents, you may be able to recover the following:
- Medical costs: This includes all expenses related to your injuries, from ambulance rides and hospital stays to physician bills and physical therapy sessions. If the injury persists beyond the settlement period, your future medical expenses can be estimated by your lawyer and included in your claim.
- Lost wages: You can recoup unpaid wages, including insurance benefits, pension contributions, and other job perks you missed out on due to your injury.
- Pain and suffering: Compensation is also available for the physical and emotional trauma endured. This includes conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder, for which treatment costs are recoverable.
