Folsom September 2018 Community Events
Folsom is home to many opportunities for a chance to learn, explore, and discover your passions and interests. You can find lectures on eating organic and being health-conscious, events for giving back to the community, and Renaissance festivals that will be inspired by Queen Elizabeth and William Shakespeare. There are too many events to list all at once, but I have collected a short list of upcoming Folsom activities below for those that will be spending some time in the city this September.
2018 Folsom Community Service Day
Date: Saturday, September 15, 2018
Time: 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Location: Various locations throughout Folsom
Admission: Free
Folsom’s community is gathering together again for the 5th year of its national community service day. On Sept. 15, thousands of volunteers mobilize with one goal in mind: making a positive impact on the community. There are multiple nonprofits and local businesses that come together to make this event possible, especially the City of Folsom. The hope is to finish over 50 different projects in a single day, with the intent of benefiting the diverse segments of Folsom including those in need of assistance. All ages are welcome to participate. Sign up for a project on the Folsom Community Service website.

Food as Medicine – Eat to Lose Weight

Are you ready to take responsibility for your health? If so, come to this free discussion on transforming your health, body, and mind. This lecture will be hosted by Syed Abbas, a holistic health coach who is an expert on long-term weight loss. Syed will discuss the whole foods plant-based diet that can change the body dramatically. She will also explain how to break through the mental blocks that prevent you from reaching your desired level of health, such as cravings and temptations. Stop by and learn how to overcome any negative eating habits and unhealthy food addictions that impact you or someone you love.
Renaissance Faire & International Jousting Tournament
Date: Saturday, September 22 – Sunday, September 23, 2018

Admission: $0 – $36 tickets
The theme of the 26th annual Folsom Renaissance Faire is Shakespeare’s Muse. For two days, Folsom City Lions Park is going to be transformed into an Elizabethan-inspired town. The park will hold a myriad of characters resembling those in many famous Shakespeare plays. This is Folsom’s biggest renaissance bash, complete with an exciting Dionysian party with exotic food, traditional turkey legs, and drinks. Additionally, there will be a jousting tournament where festival-goers can watch horses and men collide right in front of you. This unique event creatively combines sport, theater, music, and comedy – don’t forget to mark your calendar!
