Big Rig Crash Involving Two Vehicles Occurs on State Route 20

A big rig crash on July 27 in Yuba City, resulted in the hospitalization of at least one person. The two rigs collided around 12:12 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 20 at Acacia Avenue. Westbound S.R. 20 was completely blocked at Acacia by the accident. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported fluid leaking from at least one of the vehicles.

Big Rig Crash Results in Injuries

Tow trucks were called to the scene to remove both vehicles. One of the trucks was a double-axle big rig carrying a load of wood. At least one injured person was transported to Rideout Medical Center in Marysville for undescribed injuries. The CHP traffic accident unit is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

Injuries Caused by Big Trucks and Recovering Compensation

An individual injured in a big rig crash may be able to recover significant compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and other losses. There are, however, a number of factors that can complicate an individual’s ability to recover damages, such as insurance companies balking at paying you the compensation you need or the liability issue with the company responsible for the accident. Having an experienced truck accident lawyer by your side can be crucial in these cases.

Assistance Following an Injury in a Truck Accident

A truck accident lawyer can help clients understand the complex, confusing insurance policies applicable to trucking companies in a big rig crash and work toward winning them the maximum compensation. Also, an attorney will understand state and federal regulations related to truck driving, including vehicle maintenance and driver training. Using this knowledge, a big rig crash can be proved to have been caused by the defendant’s negligence if it occurred. To achieve a successful outcome for the injured party, an attorney also knows how to present their case in court or during settlement negotiations.

Recoverable Compensation in a Personal Injury Claim

The amount of compensation you receive for your accident varies with each case. A person who is injured, however, may be able to recover:

  • The medical expenses you incur from your accident can be recovered, including any out-of-pocket costs. Among them are hospitalization, doctors’ bills, surgeries, tests, medications, rehabilitation, medical appliances, etc. If it is ongoing, the additional expenses associated with your injury are factored in.
  • A serious injury can prevent a patient from working and not receiving their wages. In addition to the wages, other job perks such as pensions and insurance benefits can also be recovered. In the case of an injured party who has to take a lower-paying job, the difference is calculated in the settlement. Compensation can be claimed until retirement if permanent disability results.
  • The injured party can not only get compensation for their physical pain and suffering but also for their psychological and emotional trauma. Treatment costs can also be recouped.
