I would like to extend my sincerest thoughts and condolences to the loved ones of the parties that lost their lives in this heart-wrenching accident. I hope the person who suffered injuries in this accident is able to make a full recovery.
What Happened?
Officers from the Modesto Police Department were dispatched to the scene of an auto accident along Sylvan Avenue and McHenry Avenue at approximately 12:30 am. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a 2002 Dodge pickup truck that appeared to have struck a tree and caught fire following the collision.
Nature of Injuries
The driver of the Dodge was able to exit the vehicle by the time emergency personnel arrived. The driver was transported to an area hospital for treatment of traumatic injuries. Sadly, the other two parties were trapped inside the burning vehicle and were pronounced deceased at the scene by fire crews.
Identity of Victims
The identities of the victims has not yet been released due to pending family notification.
Accident Investigation
The area was shut down for several hours to allow officials to thoroughly investigate the area. The bodies of the two parties were extricated from the vehicle by fire crews once the investigation was complete. The cause of the auto accident remains under investigation by the Modesto Police Department.
Driver Charged with DUI
The driver of the Dodge pickup truck, 28-year-old Alfonzo Rodriguez-Quintana, has been arrested on charges of an outstanding warrant, two counts of homicide, gross bodily injury in the commission of a felony charge and driving under the influence causing injury. He has been booked into the Stanislaus County Jail as a result of his senseless actions.
Wrongful Death
A wrongful death is a legal term meaning a death that was caused by the negligence or misconduct of another party or entity. The families of the deceased party may find it hard to move on with their lives without their loved one by their side, especially if they were a primary provider for their family. Damages such as loss of support, loss of income and other costs related to the death may be recoverable through a wrongful death claim. Such claims can be stressful and time-consuming as they require extensive investigations. If you have lost someone you love, it is import to call an experienced Modesto car accident lawyer to pursue fair compensation for your loved one’s untimely passing.
