Two Injured During Snowy Truck Accident Near Truckee
On Friday, January 22, 2020, two people were seriously hurt during a truck accident near Truckee. California Highway Patrol (CHP)’s website indicates that the collision happened in the morning during snowy conditions at a rural highway location. While both individuals were seriously hurt, medical responders indicated that neither of them had suffered life-threatening trauma. The accident remained under investigation at the time of reporting.
Crash Details
The accident reportedly took place at around 9:45 a.m. on Highway Interstate 80 close to the intersection of Nyack Road near Yuba Gap. According to police, two passenger vehicles crashed into each other, causing minor damages to both. The drivers of the vehicles pulled over to the side of the highway and exited their vehicles in order to exchange personal information.
As the drivers were standing on the side of the road, a big-rig without tire chains came around a curve reportedly at high speeds. Police indicated that the driver hit his brakes and the vehicle jack-knifed. Subsequently, the truck crashed into multiple vehicles and struck both of the pedestrians.
Response
After the accident happened, witnesses contacted police, and officers were dispatched to the scene. Response personnel at the site discovered that both pedestrians were seriously hurt and had both individuals transported to the regional hospitals for emergency treatment. No other people were reported to have been injured during the crash.
While police continue to investigate this serious accident, a full report of suspected accident factors remains unavailable.
Trucking Collisions and Taking Quick Action
Big-rigs present a serious risk to every roadway user. Because of the massive size of these vehicles, they can be very difficult to control and are likely to cause serious damage even in otherwise minor accidents. Because of the destructive potential of big-rigs, trucking companies are almost always ready to take legal action as soon as a collision occurs. Usually, the company will begin building a defense against financial liability right away, often sending a legal response team to the site itself in order to take their own witness statements and photos of the scene.
Sadly, this kind of aggressive defense can make it very hard for injured individuals to obtain the compensation that they deserve through personal injury claims. For this reason, it’s very important to call an experienced Truckee truck accident lawyer as soon as you are able. If your lawyer can get to work on your case immediately, they will be more able to make sure you receive the compensation that you need for your medical bills, damaged property, lost income, and other important damages.
