State Route 99 Big Rig Rollover Accident Injures Two

A big rig rollover occurred in Yuba City on November 15 following a head-on crash with a sedan. The collision happened along State Route 99 at Bogue Road around 8:43 p.m. The semi was found overturned onto its side by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers who arrived at the scene.

Trucker’s Brakes May Have Failed in Big Rig Rollover Accident

According to reported data, the semi-driver was honking prior to the crash as a sedan was turning left. Authorities are speculating whether brake failure in the semi contributed to the crash. However, CHP traffic accident detectives are in the process of determining the cause.

Two Injured People Transported to Hospital Following Head-On Crash

Two parties in the sedan suffered major injuries in the collision and were transported to a hospital for care. A Sigalert was issued for Sutter County in the south Yuba City area warning that all lanes on Golden State Highway were shut down due to the accident and for motorists to use an alternate route. Tow trucks were called to remove the sedan and raise the semi. The big rig was transporting 43,000 pounds of pallets of rice at the time, not including the weight of the trailer.

Brake Failure in Big Rigs

Brake failure is one of the most common causes of accidents in tractor-trailers. Big rigs are equipped with air brakes, which are costly to repair or replace. Because of this, trucking companies and independent drivers may try to put off those repairs and replacements as long as possible. Unfortunately, in many cases, the brakes fail suddenly, causing the driver to lose control. Rollovers are common in brake failure in a semi.

Truck Accidents Can Involve Liability by Multiple Parties

When a big rig rollover occurs, an injury lawyer can investigate the crash to determine liability and the cause. In some instances, the truck driver is liable. However, in others, the trucking company and a third party may be held responsible.

For example, the trucking company may have been remiss in repairing or replacing worn truck brakes, which led to the big rig rollover collision. In another, the brakes may have been defective, which means a product liability claim may be placed against the manufacturer. In another scenario, the mechanic who worked on the brakes or replaced them did not do so correctly, which led to the crash.

Contacting a Truck Accident Lawyer in a Big Rig Rollover

A truck accident lawyer can investigate the big rig rollover to determine the cause of the accident and gather the evidence to support an injured client’s claim to recover compensation. Damages in a personal injury include medical expenses caused by the crash, lost wages and compensation for the injured party’s pain and suffering.

The following qualities should be sought in a personal injury attorney, according to Ed Smith:
