Stockton DUI Collision Fatality
A Stockton DUI collision fatality recently occurred along Interstate 5 in the vicinity of Mathews Road. A driver of a 2001 GMC reportedly lost control and veered onto the shoulder of the roadway. The GMC later struck a parked tow truck and a tow truck operator before overturning back onto I-5 and hitting two other vehicles. Unfortunately, the tow truck operator passed away at the scene of the collision. The San Joaquin County Coroner’s Ofice has identified the decedent as Juan Morga, a 48-year-old resident of Stockton.
I would like to offer my condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Morga who passed away in this tragic accident.
Investigation of the Stockton DUI Collision Fatality
A report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) suggested that the driver of the GMC was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. A recent complaint filed by the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office affirmed that the motorist had a blood alcohol content of .20 percent and higher. Moreover, the suspect was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on a $1 million bail.
Drunk Driving Accidents
Suffering serious injuries or losing someone you love in a drunk driving accident can be an extremely difficult time for all involved. While compensation from a personal injury or wrongful death claim can never undo an injury or replace a lost loved one, it can help lessen the financial concerns experienced by you or your family. If you have been injured in an auto accident caused by an intoxicated motorist, you may be eligible to recover personal injury damages such as medical bills, lost income, loss of future earning capacity, and more. If a family member is lost in a drunk driving accident, surviving family members may be able to seek compensation through a claim for wrongful death. To learn what types of damages may be recovered in a case of wrongful death, watch the following YouTube video. If you have questions regarding your case, contact an experienced Stockton personal injury lawyer.
