Stockton Firework Stand Accident

Unfortunately, the dangers of reality don’t take a break during this potentially vulnerable time. A little over a week ago, a firework stand was struck by a car in Stockton, California, in what may have been an intentional act. Further information is still being determined by authorities.
What Happened?
On the evening of July 3, 2016, an individual ran into the fireworks stand that was located in a hardware store’s parking lot on Trinity Parkway in Stockton, California. The next day, a man was brought in by police in connection with this incident after he had been repeatedly spotted driving by the firework stand making potentially gun-like hand gestures at volunteers. The man’s activity had been noticed by volunteers on Sunday and when the man returned on Monday, after the collision took place the prior evening, volunteers called police. It is unclear if there were any volunteers still working at the firework stand when the collision occurred but there were no reports of any bodily injuries and all fireworks had been removed and stored for the evening.
Suspect Apprehended
On Monday, after the firework stand was repaired, volunteers saw the same man they had noticed from Sunday. They called the police and officers were able to apprehend the man in connection with this incident from the evening before. Police said that they searched this man’s vehicle and found that it contained firearms. Police also stated that a mental health evaluation could be underway for this possible suspect.

Fortunately, it appears that no one was injured as a result of these incidents; unfortunately, this is not always the case. Holidays often bring situations that encourage intoxicated driving which can mean fatal results. No one wants to see a family member or friend seriously hurt in a car accident, especially during the holidays.
