Suisun Man Identified After Fatal Accident
On Thursday, May 9, 2019, Solano County Sheriff’s Department authorities released the identity of a man who lost his life a day earlier during a pile-up accident that happened on a local freeway. The individual was identified as Sun-Shawn Hill, a 21-year-old man from Suisun City. The collision also left one additional person with moderate trauma as well as three more with minor injuries. Police say that the accident took place in the midafternoon and involved five vehicles. An investigation into the incident is ongoing and being conducted by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). I would like to send my condolences out to Mr. Hill’s loved ones after they have suffered such a tragic loss.
Crash Information
According to police, the crash took place on the eastbound side of Highway 12 just east of the Beck Avenue intersection. Four vehicles were stopped inside the fast lane of the highway waiting for a traffic light at approximately 3:30 p.m. At this time, a white-colored Mercedes van driven by a 54-year-old resident of Fairfield rear-ended one of the stopped vehicles, a Volkswagen Passat in which Hill had been a passenger.
The Volkswagen was pushed forward into the rear-end of a Hyundai sedan. The Hyundai was, in turn, pushed forward and struck the rear-end of a BMW 325CI driven by a 22-year-old Fairfield woman.
Response and Injuries
Responders were sent out to the crash site right away. When they arrived, emergency personnel found that the driver of the Mercedes had suffered moderate trauma. The man was placed on an ambulance and taken to the Kaiser hospital in Vacaville. Hill was discovered with serious trauma and tragically passed away on-site. The remaining drivers were treated at the accident scene for minor trauma.
Investigation
CHP investigators have not stated what factors are suspected to have been a part of this collision. Police are asking for help with their investigation from members of the public who may have seen the crash or have information related to the incident. To call, use the non-emergency number (707) 428-2100.

The February accident left a Santa Rosa resident with fatal trauma and two more individuals with severe injuries.
