Specifically, immediate family members like a spouse or children can seek compensation. This compensation may cover the decedent’s lost wages and bonuses up until their retirement age, along with funeral and burial expenses. A surviving spouse can also claim damages for loss of consortium and affection, while children may also seek compensation.
