The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the crash occurred around 5:20 a.m. when the driver of a Hyundai Elantra, a 36-year-old woman from Sacramento, lost control of her vehicle, causing it to spin out and become disabled in the fast lane.

The woman exited the disabled Hyundai and started walking along the shoulder, leaving the car stranded on the freeway. The Honda CR-V was driven by a 50-year-old Fremont man with two juvenile passengers riding in the vehicle. Tragically, one of the minors succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
