SUV Crashes Into Child Salida
I’m Ed Smith, a Salida car accident lawyer. A 7-year-old child was crossing a residential street in Salida when the child struck by a sport utility vehicle during the evening hours of Thursday, April 13, 2017. The young child was airlifted to the hospital after the pedestrian accident.
What Happened?
A child was crossing the street at about 6:00 pm near the 4800 block of Devereaux Way. At the same time, an SUV was traveling westbound along Deveraux Way in the vicinity of Avante Lane. For unknown reasons, the SUV struck the child that was crossing the street.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene of the pedestrian accident at approximately 6:37 pm. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicated that the child did not appear to have major injuries and was alert. However, the child was transported via air ambulance to a hospital for injury observation.
What Caused the Pedestrian Accident?
It is still too early to rule out a cause of the pedestrian accident. Authorities generally take up to two weeks to process a Traffic Collision Report. Officers from CHP did conclude that alcohol did not play as a factor in the collision.
Pedestrian Accidents in Residential Areas
A motorist should always exercise extra precaution when traveling along a residential street. When driving in a residential area, it is always best to reduce your speed to have sufficient time to avoid pedestrians or other objects in the roadway. Practicing these tips are critical to preventing injuries to pedestrians or other victims. For additional information, contact an experienced personal injury lawyer.
