Teenage Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Accident in American Canyon

On Tuesday, September 29, 2020, A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured during a car accident in American Canyon. The American Canyon Police Department (ACPD) reported that the accident happened shortly after the sun set in the central area of the city. Updates on the injured teen’s condition have not yet been reported and ACPD has this accident under an active investigation.

Collision Information

The accident happened at around 7:39 p.m. on Broadway Street at the intersection of American Canyon Road. The cyclist was riding north on Broadway when he attempted to navigate the intersection while riding in a crosswalk. As the teen was crossing the road, he was struck by a vehicle heading east on American Canyon Road.

The driver pulled over at the accident scene and the accident was reported to ACPD who immediately dispatched emergency responders. When officers arrived, they discovered that the boy was severely hurt and had him placed on an ambulance and rushed to a hospital for immediate care. No other individuals suffered injuries during this incident.

Investigation

Police indicated that the driver remained at the accident scene and cooperated with officers during preliminary investigations. So far, police have not indicated what factors may have been involved in this crash. Additionally, ACPD has asked for public help with their investigation. Any accident witnesses or individuals with relevant information are urged to get in touch with ACPD to report what they know. Callers should use the non-emergency number (707) 253-4451.

Bicycle accidents happen frequently and can be caused by numerous factors. Often, a bicycle accident happens because of more than one thing and many common crash factors can’t be controlled by cyclists or drivers. Examples of these kinds of factors include hazardous roads and defective bike or car parts.

Recovering from an Accident Injury

Being injured during an accident can have major consequences, and young people are especially vulnerable. Not only are young bodies typically smaller and more fragile, but suffering a major injury during adolescence can have a negative impact on your development. Furthermore, injured kids may need to take time away from school, adding more stress to an already difficult situation.

Fortunately, it’s often possible to obtain compensation to pay for the medical care that injured teens need. This can be accomplished through a personal injury claim, which seeks to hold at-fault parties responsible for damages. Not only do injury claims often allow families to obtain payments for medical expenses, but they can cover a wide variety of other losses as well. To learn more, it’s best to get in touch with an attorney. Furthermore, the sooner you call a lawyer, the more effectively they will be able to handle your case.
