Tesla Bus Crash Near Tracy

I’m Ed Smith, a Tracy Bus Accident Lawyer. Anyone who has seen a crash involving a bus understands that these can be major accidents that have the potential to cause a tremendous amount of property damage in addition to extensive traumatic injuries. Unfortunately, an accident involving a bus claimed the life of a law enforcement professional early Friday morning.

Fatal Crash

Friday morning, a bus loaded with employees for the Tesla Company was involved in an auto accident just outside of Tracy. The result was traffic gridlock that closed three of the lanes on Interstate 580 heading east. Sadly, the accident claimed the life of an Alameda County Sheriff’s deputy in a tragic turn of events. The accident developed at around 7 A.M. when the Sheriff’s deputy, driving a Volkswagen while off-duty, ran into the back of the bus at the intersection of Interstate 205 and Interstate 580, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Extraction was Required

Due to the size difference between the bus and the Volkswagen, the VW was crushed completely and one person required extraction from the car. When the California Highway Patrol realized that an off-duty Sheriff’s deputy had been killed as a result of the accident, the officers placed an American flag on top of the body to honor the fallen deputy. The tour bus was carrying over 50 passengers; however, most people on board escaped without any major injuries. One person did have minor injuries but did not have to travel to the hospital.

Bus Accidents have the Potential to Cause Major Injuries

The passengers on the bus escaped without any major catastrophic personal injuries; however, it is not unusual for buses to be involved in accidents that can cause serious medical problems. If the bus tips over, passengers can suffer significant personal injury such as chest trauma, abdominal trauma, or even a traumatic brain injuries. These risks are further compounded by the relative lack of seat belts on buses. If the bus tips over, people can sustain multiple injuries leading to chronic pain, serious comorbidities, or even a wrongful death. People should use extra care when driving around buses and try to take advantage of any safety measures that might be available while riding a bus. These extra steps can avoid accidents that can cause permanent injuries or even a loss of life.

Importance of Immediate Action Following Bus Crash

If you have been in an accident involving a bus, seek immediate medical attention and then contact an experienced bus accident lawyer who utilizes experts in bus accident investigations. By promptly calling an attorney, accident investigators can preserve valuable evidence that may disappear or get repaired with the passage of time.

We extend our condolences to the friends and family of the Alameda County Sheriff’s deputy who passed away in this collision.
