Three Acres of Yuba City Dog Park Fun
Located at 2050 Wild River Drive in Yuba City is a three-acre swath of land dedicated to outdoor canine adventures. It is called Off the Leash Dog Park, and it’s an area where your canine family members can play and exercise safely. Running the park is a non-profit venture that is solely supported by volunteers and donations.
The park is open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. There are benches so owners can relax while their dogs play and fenced-in areas separating small dogs and large dogs.
Yuba City Dog Park Rules
- The health and safety of your dog come first. Puppies should not visit until after they have had their shots, since they are susceptible to several communicable diseases, such as distemper, kennel cough, and parvovirus. These illnesses can be fatal. As required by law, all dogs must have current rabies vaccinations. They are also required to be licensed. Random checks of licensing and vaccination status are performed.
- Remove your dog if it begins to show signs of aggression and you are unable to resolve the issue.
- Remember that the owner of a dog will be financially responsible for injuries caused by their pet. While dogs sometimes mimic fighting while at play, a real dog bite can cause serious damage. If your dog becomes aggressive and bites another dog or a human, and medical attention is required, the owner of the aggressive dog will be financially responsible for the medical expenses related to the bite. While injuries of this nature are not frequent, they are also not unheard of. When such an incident occurs, the dog owner must exchange contact information with the injured party.
- It is required by law that any dog bite that draws blood/breaks the skin has to be reported to Animal Control. The agency will want the dog quarantined, usually at its home, for 10 days to watch for signs of rabies. If you cannot provide proof that your dog’s rabies shots are current, your dog may be quarantined by the county at your expense.
- Smoking is not allowed at the dog park. Cigarette butts, liquid nicotine, and marijuana can lead to a medical event if a dog eats anything like this that has dropped to the ground.
- No food is allowed in the dog park. This is for the safety of all patrons of the park. If you bring a drink into the park, when you are finished, please empty any remains in the grass and place the container in a wastebasket.
- Pick up your dog’s poop. Go the extra mile and pick up any other dog poop you see.
- Be mindful of the fact that unaltered male dogs can become aggressive when they reach maturity. Additionally, non-spayed female dogs emit hormones when in season, which can cause male dogs to act obnoxiously. It is not a good idea to bring a female dog to the dog park during that time.

How to Support the Yuba City Dog Park
One of the ways in which you can help support the park is by using Amazon Smile and setting your default donation to Off the Leash Dog Park. There is also a donation box at the park. The committee that runs the park has plans for events and upgrades but needs the financial help of the community to move forward with those plans.
Another way to help fund the park is to buy a sign advertising your business that will then be posted within the park.
