Three-Car Crash on Highway 49 in Sonora
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Sonora area office responded to a report of a three-car collision on Highway 49 on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 8, 2022. The traffic collision occurred just south of the Parrots Ferry Road junction on SR-49 at Old Sonora Columbia Road shortly after 1:05 p.m.

A preliminary report by authorities revealed that a silver Lexus ES 300 was stopped on Highway 49 for road construction for the realignment of Pedro Wye. The Lexus was reportedly rear-ended by a 1987 Pontiac Fiero. CHP traffic officers also reported that an orange Subaru Crosstrek struck the Lexus and caused it to overturn onto the top of both cars.
The Pontiac driver suffered injuries described as minor in the crash, while the Subaru driver declined emergency transportation and was able to get a ride to the hospital. The two parties in the Lexus both had complaints of pain in the back but were not transported from the scene for medical treatment. Additional information on the car accident in Sonora was not immediately available.
