Three Injured in Big Rig Crash on SR-4

Three parties were injured in a big rig crash on SR-4 in the Brentwood area on the morning of Friday, January 21, 2022. The incident took place on eastbound State Route 4 and Lone Tree Way around 5:30 a.m.

Details on the Big Rig Crash on SR-4 That Left Three Injured

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (CCCFPD) received the report of the truck accident in Brentwood and dispatched firefighters to the scene to provide assistance to those involved. Upon the arrival of fire personnel and crews from the American Medical Response (AMR), three parties suffered injuries described as minor in the incident. Information on whether the three injured parties were hospitalized following the big rig crash was not immediately available.

A preliminary report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) revealed that a crashed big rig was reportedly located off the roadway along the right-hand shoulder. It was described as a semi-truck hauling two trailers with one detached from the other. The other vehicle involved in the truck accident, a silver Lexus sedan, was found on the right-hand shoulder. Details on the sequence of events leading up to the semi-truck collision have not yet been provided by CHP traffic officers due to ongoing investigation.

Truck Accidents and Personal Injury Claims

Thousands of commercial trucks haul goods in Contra Costa County and across California every day. With no surprise, the number of motor vehicle crashes involving big rigs in California has been on the rise in recent years. In a 2019 report by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), approximately 385 fatal crashes involved large trucks that year. The serious injuries and fatalities that result from big rig crashes may be attributed to the overwhelming size and weight of these vehicles, leaving passenger vehicles virtually no chance of escaping bodily injury.

Traffic collisions involving large trucks are more challenging to navigate than those involving passenger vehicles. The reason behind this is that the trucking industry is regulated by state and federal laws. Since the stakes may be high for trucking companies and commercial insurers for crashes caused by truck drivers, it is not uncommon for evidence demonstrative of negligence to be hidden or tampered with following the incident. That is why it is essential to retain an injury lawyer with substantial experience in truck accident litigation immediately. The attorney will act quickly by sending letters of preservation of evidence to the truck driver, trucking company, and other parties that may be potentially liable for the big rig crash. Keep in mind that these letters must be sent immediately as evidence pertinent to the case may be destroyed after a certain period of time.

Without evidence, it may be challenging to prove a personal injury claim, and the last thing any injured party would ever want to deal with is collecting and preserving it all while undergoing medical treatment and missing time at work to recover. An accident attorney may simplify the process for an injured party by handling all aspects of their injury case, all while investigating the various contributing factors to the crash to properly determine liability. Identifying precisely what caused a big rig crash may require testimony from expert witnesses such as an accident reconstruction expert, and your Brentwood truck accident lawyer will have the resources to make that possible.
