Watt Avenue Accident Involving Three Vehicles Causes Injury
A three-vehicle accident in North Highlands on March 3 caused injuries to one person. The collision happened around 11:34 in the morning along northbound Watt Avenue just south of A Street, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The accident involved a Nissan Quest and an Infiniti. Both vehicles remained drivable and were removed to the right-hand side, so they would not impede traffic.
Accident Being Investigated to Determine How it Happened
The driver of the Infiniti required medical attention, so paramedics with the Sacramento Fire Department were summoned to the North Highlands accident scene. It was not reported whether that patient was taken to a hospital or received treatment at the scene of the three-vehicle accident. An investigation is underway to determine how the collision happened.
Seeking Help From an Injury Lawyer
When someone suffers an accident injury in a collision, they can face medical bills, lose time at work, which isn’t reimbursed, and pain and suffering. We believe that no one should have to suffer an injury and the added indignity and expense of having to pay their own losses when someone else was to blame. By filing a claim against the at-fault party, those losses can be recovered. In this way, the person who was injured can concentrate on getting better without the stress of financial worries.
Causes of a Three-Vehicle Accident
Most of the time, accidents are the result of a negligent driver and occur for many reasons, including the following:
- Following too close: A driver who is tailgating can’t always stop in time if the vehicle in front suddenly slows down. Tailgating often results in a rear-end collision, which is one of the most common types of accidents.
- Speeding: Speeding is a problem along city streets and highways and can lead to a three-vehicle accident. By striking the car in front due to speeding, it can push that vehicle into another in their own lane or the next one.
- Drunk driving: Intoxicated drivers often cause injury accidents despite efforts by authorities and educating the public. Because a drunk driver may be weaving all over the road, it can easily lead to a three-vehicle accident.
- Fatigued driving: Drivers who are not alert enough to be behind the wheel of a car can cause a three-vehicle accident. In some cases, the driver even falls asleep, and an accident follows.
- Distracted driving: Drivers who perform other activities while behind the wheel of a car can end up causing a three-vehicle accident. These activities include talking or texting on a cell phone, adjusting the radio station, or even chatting with passengers. Focusing on the road ahead and the surrounding traffic is one way to stay safe and avoid a collision.
Investigating a Three-Vehicle Accident
Conducting an investigation to gather evidence to prove fault helps our clients obtain fair compensation for their accident injury. Some of the areas in which our investigative team looks for evidence include:
- The investigators interview witnesses and check for mistakes in the police report.
- They conduct accident reconstruction, which shows the positioning of the vehicles and can point toward fault.
- Traffic and other surveillance cameras are checked to see if the accident was caught on tape.
- The area is also checked for signs of government negligence, such as potholes, poor lighting, and other mistakes. If problems are found, the government entity may be held financially responsible, at least in part.
