A Tracy triple fatality auto accident occurred near the intersection of Grant Line Road and MacArthur Road on December 29, 2018. A preliminary report suggested the driver of a Dodge Charger was speeding, lost control and veered off the roadway after colliding with a curb. The vehicle continued for a short time before striking multiple trees and a fire hydrant along the north side of Grant Line Road. Six occupants were inside the Dodge at the time of the collision. Sadly, three of the six occupants passed away in the accident. The three decedents have been identified by the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office as 21-year-old Arturo Ramirez Valencia, 21-year-old Alan Garcia, and 22-year-old Christian Cruz, all of Tracy.
Our prayers and sympathy are extended to the friends and families of the victims in this devastating car crash.
Single Vehicle Accidents
Single vehicle accidents frequently occur nationwide and are often caused by driver error. Some of the common reasons for such collisions include:
- Distracted Driving: This is considered any activity that diverts a driver’s attention from the road. Common forms of distracted driving include texting or calling on a cell phone, eating, applying makeup, or adjusting the navigation system or radio.
- Drowsy Driving: Operating a motor vehicle while fatigued is dangerous. This can cause a driver to lose consciousness and increase their chances of a single vehicle crash.
- Drunk Driving: Alcohol consumption can impair a driver’s ability to make reasonable decisions on the road. The effects of alcohol can also limit a motorist’s judgment, vision, coordination, and reaction time.
- Speeding: Driving above the posted speed limit or too fast for road conditions in combination with any of the previously mentioned reasons can result in an accident.
Single Vehicle Collisions Caused by Defects
On occasion, liability for a single vehicle car crash may not fall solely on the driver. Instead, the fault may be with a government entity in the case of a dangerous or defective roadway. Other times it might be with a vehicle or part manufacturer as in the case of faulty brake or tire defects. In such cases, the auto part company and the manufacturer of the vehicle may be held financially responsible for the crash. Conversely, roadway defects such as lack of signage, potholes, and crumbling pavement may cause a driver to lose control and veer off the road. Since establishing fault for an accident is essential, contacting an experienced personal injury attorney in Tracy can make the difference. An experienced accident lawyer may use crash reconstruction experts to determine whether a defect contributed to the collision. In this way, the law firm can present a strong case for fair compensation of damages incurred.
