Help in Recovering Compensation Following a Serious Injury

Because of the seriousness of a critical injury, those who experience a critical injury are often hospitalized for an extended period, lose their ability to work and experience severe pain and suffering. An injury lawyer’s job is to help them recover the compensation they deserve from the negligent person or entity who caused their trauma in a Tracy injury accident.

Types of Recoverable Compensation

When a negligent driver causes a two-vehicle accident that results in trauma, the injured person can recover compensation in several areas, including:

  • The cost of medical expenses: You can recover all medical expenses resulting from the accident. This coverage spans ambulance and hospitalization fees, surgeries, doctors’ bills, medications, and rehabilitative treatment. By keeping receipts, you also gain reimbursement for any out-of-pocket expenses for gas or parking. Should your injury persist up to settlement time, your lawyer will estimate and include future costs.
  • Unpaid wages: If an injury forces you off work, leading to lost wages, you can recover these earnings. You can recover the wage difference if you need to accept a lower-paying job because your injuries prevent you from performing your previous work. In cases of permanent disability, you’re entitled to recover your wages up until retirement age.
  • Physical and emotional trauma: Your injury lawyer can help you recover compensation for both your physical and psychological trauma. In many cases, the person who was injured in an accident suffers from anxiety, depression, nightmares and additional disturbing symptoms. Some are forced to seek professional treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder to deal with those symptoms. The cost of the professional treatment is recoverable.
