Auburn Boulevard Accident Injures One Person in Violent Crash
A traffic accident happened in North Highlands on February 27 when a motor vehicle crashed into the front of Heritage Oaks Hospital. According to the police report by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, when they arrived at the location on Auburn Boulevard, they discovered that a vehicle had crashed into a safety bollard and possibly a tree, causing injuries to someone inside the car. The vehicle was completely destroyed in the crash, with the engine lying some distance from the car.
Further Details of the Traffic Accident
Damage to the building included a glass window that may have been struck by the engine. Sacramento Fire Department emergency responders transported one person or more to a hospital nearby for treatment of their injuries. The use of alcohol or drugs has not yet been ruled out as a factor. An investigation is being conducted by authorities to determine how it happened.
Area Is a Common Location for Deadly Accidents
The intersection where the apartment building is located is a common location for serious accidents. In August 2017, a double motorcycle accident that resulted in two fatalities occurred in the same area. Vehicles coming from the off-ramp from Auburn Boulevard off I-80 may still be traveling at highway speeds without realizing that the road stops suddenly with the hospital at the end if they are unfamiliar with the area.
Reasons for a Traffic Accident
A traffic accident is normally caused by negligence on the part of one of the drivers. Most can be attributed to distracted, reckless, or drunk driving or undue fatigue. However, this isn’t always true. Other influences can lead to a collision such as:
- Government negligence: When a traffic accident commonly happens at a particular location, negligence by the government may be the cause. This can include speed limits that are too high, missing signage, potholes, and other dangers. If a government entity is found to be responsible for a traffic accident, they may be held accountable. However, because the timeline for filing against a government entity is much shorter, it is important to contact a personal injury attorney as soon as possible. In this way, the paperwork can be completed correctly and filed before the statute of limitations runs out.
- Hit-and-run drivers: More and more often, a traffic accident involves a hit-and-run driver. By collecting evidence from the traffic collision such as camera footage, witness accounts, and accident reconstruction, it can show that another vehicle was involved.
- Aggressive drivers: While most motorists drive safely and obey traffic laws, some do not. An aggressive driver or someone with road rage can tailgate, switch lanes frequently and bully another motorist, leading to a traffic accident. In some cases, the aggressive driver can even force another car off the road.
- Mechanical problems: Brake failure, steering problems, or a stuck accelerator can cause a traffic accident. In the event this is found to be the cause, an auto product liability claim may be placed against the manufacturer, distributor, and others.
Over the years that I have practiced law, my firm has successfully investigated many traffic collisions and obtained fair compensation for our clients. We strongly believe that it is bad enough to be injured in a traffic accident. No one should have to bear the financial brunt, including the medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering if the accident was someone else’s fault.
