Fatality Traffic Accident on Green Valley Road Claims Life of Teen
A traffic accident in Folsom on May 9 claimed the life of a local resident. The 19-year-old died in a collision shortly after 11:00 p.m. along Green Valley Road located between Sophia Parkway and East Natoma Street, which is near the Mormon Island Wetlands State Park. The road was shut down for a time as officers with the Folsom Police Department conducted an investigation into the cause of the crash.
Losing a Loved One in a Traffic Accident
Few things are worse than losing a loved one, especially if it was through an accident that wasn’t their fault. When negligence by another person or entity caused your loved one’s demise, you might want to consider filing a wrongful death claim. This can recover the cost of funeral and burial expenses, loss of earnings, and more.
Over our many years as a law firm, we’ve successfully handled many wrongful death claims and can do the same for you. Although it will not ease your grief and sense of loss, it can help remove the financial stress.
Determining the Cause of a Single-Vehicle Traffic Accident
Most single-vehicle traffic accidents are because of driver error. Someone fell asleep at the wheel or was speeding or distracted, among a myriad of other reasons. In some cases, however, the traffic accident was caused by an outside influence. Among these are:
- Defective auto parts: When a tire blows out suddenly on the freeway, or there are problems with the motor, steering, accelerator, or brakes, it may be due to a defect. Any of these problems can cause a driver to lose control of their vehicle or not be able to adjust their speed or direction. In these types of cases, the manufacturer and others in the production line may be liable for damages, and an auto product liability claim may be placed. Negligence does not have to be proved in a lawsuit of this type, only that the product was used as it was intended and that no alterations had been made. This is why it is so important to retain a vehicle following an accident so that it can be checked for defects that led to the collision.
- Another driver: Hit-and-run and aggressive drivers are becoming more common these days. A traffic collision with another driver or being forced off the road can lead to a traffic accident injury or fatality without seemingly leaving a trace. Investigators can examine the accident site and find evidence that can prove the driver themself was not responsible.
- Government negligence: Weakened or defective guardrails, poor lighting, potholes, and other road dangers can easily cause a driver to lose control of their vehicle. A claim can be placed against the government entity in charge of maintenance if an injury or traffic accident fatality occurs. Because the timeline in which it’s possible to file a claim is much shorter than for other personal injuries, enlisting the assistance of an injury attorney may be helpful. They will ensure that the paperwork is filed on time before the statute of limitations runs out.
