Multiple Vehicles Involved in I-80 Collision
A traffic accident involving multiple vehicles happened in Sacramento recently, which resulted in one injury. The collision happened along Interstate 80 close to the off-ramp for Norwood Avenue around 10:45 in the evening, according to the incident report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). It involved a Chevy Suburban, a Mitsubishi, a semi-truck, a compact car, and a motorcycle. At least one individual involved in the traffic accident was injured. The CHP is conducting an investigation into the accident to find out how it occurred and assign fault.
Delayed Symptoms Following a Traffic Accident
When a traffic accident happens, those who are involved become flooded with adrenaline, which can mask injury symptoms. It’s only a few hours or days later when the real damage may become known. This is one of the reasons it’s a good idea to get checked out by your doctor or at the emergency room following any traffic accident. Delayed symptoms may include:
- Abdominal pain: Abdominal pain may indicate damage to soft tissues, internal bleeding, or trauma to an organ. When any abdominal pain occurs following a traffic accident, it’s a good idea to have it checked right away. Some of these issues can be serious.
- Back pain: Soft-tissue damage or a herniated or slipped disc can occur when back pain is present following a traffic accident. Since this type of trauma, if it is serious, can continue for months or years, having it checked is a good idea.
- Neck pain: Cervical strain or sprain, called whiplash, can happen as a result of even a minor collision. Headaches, numbness and tingling in the arms, pain moving the head, and other symptoms can arise. While most whiplash cases heal in a few weeks to several months, others can persist for a year or more.
- Headache: Headaches following a traffic accident, especially when combined with nausea, fog brain, and other symptoms, can mean the individual suffered a traumatic brain injury. A TBI can range from a concussion to a much more serious condition, so having it checked to rule out more damaging issues is necessary.
- Numbness and tingling: These symptoms may indicate issues such as cervical strain, a pinched nerve, or even a brain injury.
- Memory loss: A car accident can cause memory loss from the traumatic experience, or it might indicate a problem such as a TBI. Getting seen by a doctor should be a priority since treatment for this condition can help you get well faster and rule out anything serious.
Symptoms experienced following a traffic accident are common, and most are harmless and go away quickly. Getting checked by a doctor can ease your mind and ensure you will have a record of your injury symptoms if they worsen.
