Accident on I-5 Involves Three Vehicles

A traffic collision between three vehicles in downtown Sacramento on May 10 caused injuries to at least one person. The accident happened along southbound I-5 near the J Street off-ramp. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that it occurred around 1:00 in the afternoon and involved a pickup truck, a Toyota Corolla, and a Chevy Volt.

One Person Suffers Facial Injuries in Downtown Sacramento Accident

Several of the lanes were blocked as first responders checked for injuries, and an investigation was carried out by the CHP. One individual involved in the collision reportedly suffered facial injuries. No information was released on whether they were treated at the scene or taken to a nearby hospital.

Highway Accident Injuries

Accidents along Sacramento highways often cause injuries and involve more than two vehicles. When this happens, having a lawyer by your side can be helpful. Many people don’t want to take responsibility when they are at fault in an accident, and their insurance companies will fight along with them. My legal team and I have successfully helped many Sacramentans in getting compensation to pay their medical expenses, lost wages, and their pain and suffering.

Ways a Highway Traffic Collision Occurs

Traffic along a highway can be dangerous because of the congestion and higher speeds. One of the problems this scenario creates is that when one driver makes a misstep, it can cause an accident, and other vehicles end up involved. Some of the reasons a traffic collision of this type occurs is:

  • One driver slows down suddenly and is struck from the rear, which then involves other vehicles.
  • A driver is speeding and can’t slow down in time to avoid a collision.
  • A motorist wants to get off at the next exit and makes a risky maneuver to cross into the adjacent lane.
  • A driver is distracted by texting or talking on their cell phone and doesn’t react in time to avoid a traffic collision.
  • One driver has been drinking and shows slowed reflexes and poor judgment.
  • A motorist has been working late hours and is sleep-deprived, which keeps them from reacting quickly in an emergency situation.

Investigating a Traffic Collision to Collect Evidence

Evidence is needed to support a client’s compensation claim against the at-fault party by proving their negligence. Fortunately, our investigative team is highly experienced in doing that. First of all, they head to the accident site where:

  • The police report is examined to ensure it has no mistakes in it.
  • Accident reconstruction is performed which shows how the vehicles were positioned before, during and after the crash and can show who was at fault. This evidence is commonly used by insurance companies and in court.
  • The witnesses to the traffic collision are interviewed.
  • Nearby roadway, business, and traffic surveillance cameras are checked to see if the accident was captured on video.

Our investigators gather evidence and provide it to our legal team. They use it to construct a robust case that supports our client’s compensation claim.
