Interstate Accident Involving Multiple Vehicles Reported Near Sutterville Road
A traffic crash involving a semi occurred in Sacramento on March 30. The accident occurred just before 10:00 a.m. along Interstate 5 and the Sutterville Road off-ramp. The police report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the accident involved a Ford Mustang, an Acura, and a Honda.
Negligent Drive May Have Caused Multiple-Vehicle Traffic Crash
It was reported that the Mustang had clipped the semi, but it is unknown whether that caused the collision with the other vehicles. The traffic crash investigation is ongoing to discover how it occurred by CHP investigators. No data was released on whether injuries occurred as a result of the accident.
Obtaining Compensation Following a Traffic Crash
Traffic accidents cause serious injuries every day, which result in ambulance bills, hospitalization, and all the other costs that go with it. In addition, the injured party may lose time at work that is not reimbursed, along with the pain and suffering of their injury. With the help of an injury attorney, they may place a compensation claim against the at-fault party to recover those losses.
Investigation Is Key to a Compensation Claim’s Success
My law firm has helped many injured parties obtain the compensation they deserve over the years. Because negligence must be proven, our investigators go right to work to collect the evidence needed to support our client’s claim. This includes:
- Looking over the police report for errors is an important part of conducting a proper investigation. In some cases, a critical error can prevent a client from filing a claim.
- Interviewing witnesses to the traffic crash offers helpful information. In some instances, witnesses may have captured the accident on their cell phones. They also provide valuable information that can show fault in the accident.
- Conducting accident reconstruction can show the placement of the vehicles before, during, and after the traffic crash. This type of evidence often shows what driver/drivers were at fault and is accepted by both insurance companies and in court as proof.
- Searching for video footage of a traffic crash from local business and traffic surveillance cameras is excellent proof of who was at-fault in a collision.
Negligence Causes Traffic Collisions
In the above accident, it was reported that a motor vehicle had clipped a semi, which is enough for that car to lose control and strike others. Negligence is usually the reason for a traffic crash and is often caused for the following reasons:
- Speeding is a common cause of a traffic crash. This is because a driver who is speeding can lose control of their vehicle more easily.
- Distracted driving is the main cause of traffic crashes these days. Motorists who are texting, talking on their cell phones, eating while driving, and other distractions cannot concentrate on the road and surrounding traffic.
- Drunk driving is responsible for 10 percent of all traffic fatalities. Despite community and police efforts to lower the number of intoxicated drivers on the roadway, they still present a significant danger.
- Fatigue is a problem for many motorists these days since they often work more than one job to make ends meet. However, fatigued driving can cause a motorist to fall asleep at the wheel and affects their ability to stay alert, which can quickly lead to a traffic crash.
