Highway 152 Car Accident With Semi Results in Fatality
A traffic fatality occurred recently in Madera County when a motor vehicle collided with a semi-truck. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the driver of a 2003 Infiniti, a 30-year-old woman from Merced, was involved in a collision with a Freightliner that was heading west in Madera County along Highway 152 at about 4:44 p.m. The Infiniti was struck on the left side, which resulted in the death of the driver.
Additional Details on the Traffic Fatality
The driver of the semi, age 61, was uninjured in the crash. The identity of the woman who died in the accident has not yet been released pending notification of the family by the County Coroner’s office. The incident is under investigation by the CHP to determine what factors led to the traffic fatality accident.
Causes of a Wrongful Death
Most wrongful deaths are caused by car accidents involving negligence. Some of the main reasons an untimely death occurs due to an at-fault party include:
- Drunk driving remains a major cause of a traffic fatality.
- Distracted driving, such as talking on a cell phone or texting, has become the number one reason for serious injuries or a traffic fatality.
- Running a red light or stop sign, speeding, and other traffic infractions often cause accidents resulting in injuries and fatalities.
- Fatigue is a surprising contributor to accidents. It has been proven that a driver who is overly fatigued is as big of a danger on the road as someone who has been drinking or using drugs.
Ways to Help Those Who Are Grieving
It can be difficult for friends and other family members to be supportive of someone who is deep in grief after losing a loved one. It’s even harder when that loved one wouldn’t have died except for the careless or negligent actions of another. Some of the ways in which you can be supportive are:
- Send flowers, a sympathy card, or make a donation in the decedent’s name to their favorite charity.
- Call and/or visit the family. Having a sympathetic person to talk to after losing a loved one is an important way to deal with grief.
- Offer to run errands or drive someone to go do things such as grocery shopping or picking up prescriptions. This is especially welcome if the spouse is left alone after the death of their loved one.
- Pitch in and help around the home. This can be in the form of babysitting the children or picking them up from school, washing the dishes, or doing a little gardening around the house. Chores and running errands can seem like a difficult task when someone is grieving.
- Remember that the feelings of loss and grief do not end once the funeral service is over. Be there for your family member or friend by continuing to call, visit, and let the grieving person know that you are there for them.
