Crash along Florin Road Kills One Driver and Injures Another
A traffic fatality happened in the eastern part of Sacramento County on December 21 as the result of a three-vehicle collision. Bennie Hunter, age 80 and a Sacramento resident, died in the collision, which happened around 5:40 in the morning close to Florin Road and Excelsior Road southeast of Rosemont, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Foggy weather in the area may have contributed to the accident.
Details of the Traffic Fatality Accident
The crash happened when a gray truck and car crashed head-on in the thick fog. The motor vehicle exited the road and ended up in a ditch where it caught fire. Another motorist in a red truck did not spot the accident because of the weather conditions. The driver passed through the intersection, where their vehicle struck the gray truck in the rear.
Further Details About the Accident
Hunter was in the gray truck and died as a result of the three-vehicle collision. The driver whose vehicle went into the ditch exited their car with minor injuries and was transported to a hospital in the area for treatment. The traffic fatality accident is being investigated by the CHP to find out how it occurred.
Filing a Wrongful Death Claim
When a loved one dies, the family is deep in grief and finds it hard to think of anything else. However, the family may also face financial repercussions from the death, especially if that person contributed to their income. They can suddenly be faced with high funeral and burial expenses as well as other financial burdens.
By filing a wrongful death claim, they may recover those costs with the help of an injury attorney. My law office has successfully helped many families with their wrongful death cases and may be able to help yours too.
Grief Following the Loss of a Loved One
While it is always terrible to lose someone you love, it can be much worse if the death was sudden and caused by someone else’s negligence. The family may think in retrospect if there was anything they could have done to prevent it and wonder why it happened. Although clergy, other family members, and friends can be helpful at this time, it is important that others show their empathy for the grieving family’s situation. Some of the ways in which they can express their sympathy and offer support during this trying time include:
- Phone to express your sympathy or visit if it is permitted.
- Send over food or order it delivered. Planning a funeral service is time-consuming, and family members may not think about eating or want to cook.
- Offer to pick up groceries, prescriptions, or drive a grieving person while they run errands. Because of the shock of losing someone close, they may be hesitant to take care of normal daily tasks.
- If you are visiting and see things that need to be done, pitch in and help. It may be something as small as washing the dishes, but it will be appreciated.
- If the grieving person is now a widow or widower and doesn’t have other close family members, offer to accompany them to make the funeral and burial arrangements. This is a difficult chore at any time but much harder when alone. Having a sympathetic, caring person to lean on in this difficult time can be welcome.
