Truck Accident Injures Man Near Merced County
I’m Ed Smith, a Merced personal injury attorney. A truck accident occurred in a rural area of Merced County on the morning of March 17, 2018. Unfortunately, the collision caused a man to suffer serious injuries.

What Happened?
A 25-year-old man was driving his 2013 Chevrolet Cruze southbound along Highway 165 in the vicinity of Westside Boulevard at approximately 9:20 am. For unknown reasons, the Chevrolet reportedly drifted into the northbound lane of travel and into the path of a 2008 International tractor-trailer. The big rig, which was hauling an empty tank trailer at the time, allegedly attempted to veer to the right to avoid a car accident but was unsuccessful. The Chevrolet collided with the left rear tire of the big rig, resulting in a severe crash.
Nature of Injuries
First responders were dispatched to the scene of the truck accident to assist the motorist of the Chevrolet. The driver was transported via air ambulance to the Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of major injuries. An update on his condition has not yet been released to the public by officials.
Investigation
Officials from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) have not issued a cause of the accident as of this writing. The big rig driver was not detained or cited by officials that day. However, it is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played as factors in the crash.
