Truck Driver Dead Following Orland Crash
An Orland crash left a truck driver with fatal trauma on Thursday, April 30, 2020. Information from police indicates that the accident happened in the morning on Highway Interstate 5 and only involved one vehicle, a large commercial truck carrying hay. The decedent has not yet been identified as Glenn County officials are still notifying his family. This crash remains under investigation at this time.
Collision Information
California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the crash happened at around 8:00 a.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 5. A 2020 Peterbilt truck with a full load of hay veered to the right for unknown reasons, eventually leaving the road. After driving off-road, the truck traveled up the embankment located at the County Road 35 overpass. Eventually, the truck collided head-on into one of the concrete supports of the overpass.
Reports indicated that the crash caused hay to spill over the highway and block one southbound lane. Additionally, the collision caused serious damage to both the vehicle and the overpass.
Response
After responders dispatched by CHP arrived at the site of the crash, they discovered that the truck driver had been seriously hurt. Sadly, the driver could not recover from his trauma and lost his life on-scene. According to information from police, no other people were involved in this accident.
Investigation
While CHP has stated that they are attempting to find out what caused this crash, there haven’t been any reports regarding likely crash factors. Truck collisions can be caused by many different factors, including things drivers aren’t in control of like defects in the road or dangerously designed auto parts.
Furthermore, it is often hard for police to fully understand what caused a crash when they are unable to interview the involved driver. Because of this, it’s very important to reach out to an area wrongful death lawyer who can look into the accident privately and determine if you and your family may be able to claim compensation.
Trucking Accidents
Most truck drivers are very careful about operating their vehicles. However, these vehicles are massive and very likely to cause major injuries in the event of a collision. The companies that own and operate commercial trucks are very aware of the risks that come along with driving such a large vehicle and are usually ready to defend themselves from liability right away. In many cases, the company will send its own legal team to the crash site to take evidence and witness statements in order to avoid having to pay for damages. In order to make sure that your family can obtain the compensation you deserve, it’s critical to get in touch with an Orland wrongful death lawyer as soon as possible.
