Two Dead Following Fiery Redding Car Crash
On Saturday, July 25, 2020, two people tragically died in a fiery Redding car crash. The Redding Police Department (RPD) reported that this accident involved a single vehicle and occurred early at a local construction site in the early morning. Shasta County officials are currently withholding the identities of the two decedents, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Crash Details
The accident occurred shortly after 1:00 a.m. at 2150 East Street in Downtown Redding. The accident was called into RPD by individuals nearby who heard it happen. When police arrived, they discovered a grey Ford Fusion had overturned and was on its roof in the parking lot of an area business currently undergoing construction. The Ford was reportedly already engulfed in flames when responders reached the site.
RPD has stated that nobody witnessed the accident. However, after conducting preliminary investigations, officers reported that they believed the Ford had been traveling north on South Market Street, possibly at high speeds, when the vehicle approached a slight bend just past the intersection at Cypress Avenue. As it navigated the bend, officers suspect the Ford struck the concrete median that divides East and Pine Streets, causing the driver to lose control.
After striking the median, police say that the Ford likely crashed into a fence around the construction site and finally rammed into the southern side of the building. At what point the vehicle overturned was not made clear.
Investigation
While RPD’s investigation into the crash continues, officers have not confirmed any causal factors. Investigating officials have urged anyone with information about this incident to contact RPD by calling their non-emergency number, (530) 225-4200.
Car accidents like this can be challenging and often involve numerous factors. Furthermore, many common single-vehicle crash factors aren’t controlled by the involved driver. These factors can include car parts issues, hazardous roads, and more.
To ensure that the accident is investigated to the fullest extent, it’s essential to contact a skilled Redding wrongful death attorney who can use their experience and resources to do a private investigation. A good attorney will be able to find out whether or not any negligence was involved in the incident.
Rollover Accidents
When vehicles overturn, there’s a very high chance that occupants will suffer serious injuries, mainly because many cars can’t withstand an impact on the roof. In these cases, it’s often possible to hold vehicle manufacturers liable as at-fault parties to the accident. However, retaining the wrecked vehicle as evidence is essential so your lawyer can determine whether or not the company may be liable.
