Two Dead, Four Injured in Antioch Accident

Two teenagers lost their lives, and four others were critically injured after a tragic accident that happened in Antioch on Friday, January 11, 2019. The collision only involved one vehicle and occurred on Lone Tree Way in the middle of the evening. All six people inside the car were under the age of eighteen, including the driver.

I want to take this moment to extend my deepest condolences and prayers to the families and friends that are grieving for the young teens whose lives were lost too early in this unspeakably tragic accident.

Details of the Accident

Statements from Antioch police authorities indicate that it was approximately around 9:00 p.m. that Friday evening when a single vehicle was reported to have crashed into a tree. The accident happened along Lone Tree Way, between Indian Hill Drive and Hillcrest Avenue. When emergency responders arrived to the accident site, they discovered a car on the south sidewalk of Lone Tree Way. The vehicle had sustained extensive damage from the collision.

Police stated that one person had been forcefully ejected from the car following the impact with the tree. The other five people were trapped inside and had to be removed using specialized safety equipment by Contra Costa County firefighters. Sadly, two teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. The remaining four people were transferred to trauma centers for a wide range of injuries, ranging from moderate to life-threatening. No updates on their condition have been available.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 17-year old female. The other five car occupants included another 17-year old female, a 16-year old male, and two girls that were both 13-years old. None of the teenager’s identities have been revealed to the public. Police are still investigating what may have caused the collision. Currently, it is assumed that the accident might have been the result of excessive speeding on a wet, damp roadway.
