Details on the Stockton Fire Truck Accident That Left Two Injured

According to a report by authorities, one crew from the Stockton Fire Department was headed to a fire along Sonoma Avenue. The fire truck was involved in an accident with another vehicle for unknown reasons.

The impact of the wreck caused the tiller (back) of the fire truck to sail into a building near the scene with a firefighter inside. The driver of the other car and the firefighter were transported to the hospital for treatment. Three other firefighters were inside the truck at the time of the accident. However, none of those three parties were injured. The cause of the incident and the extent of the injuries was unclear.

How are Auto Accident Cases Different When a Government Vehicle is Involved?

It is never easy to claim against a government entity for a motor vehicle collision, but it may occur more often than expected. Those injured in auto accidents with government vehicles may have a right to financial compensation for personal injury damages caused by a public agency and their employee. Those involved in such a situation may retain an experienced Stockton personal injury attorney to bring a government entity claim against the appropriate public agency for the emotional, financial, and physical harm they have caused.

In brief, each injured party may have the right to be made whole again by the at-fault party. A personal injury lawsuit for a car accident may be challenging and overwhelming, and the process may take several months or even years. However, it may be straightforward compared to cases involving public agencies. One reason is that a different filing deadline applies to such claims, as outlined in the California Government Code Section 911.2. Under this section, claimants have up to 180 days from the date of loss to file a notice of claim with the appropriate government entity. Timing is essential in these claims, or else the injured party may lose the right to the financial recovery of losses incurred.

Remember that bringing a claim against a public agency for a motor vehicle accident may be extended, stressful, and challenging. However, building a successful case against the government entity is not entirely impossible, particularly if you retain legal counsel immediately. When you hire an injury lawyer with years of experience handling such cases, you may have the best chances of being fairly compensated for your injuries and resulting damages.
