Two Suffer Major Injuries in Redding Car Crash
On Monday, January 11, 2021, two people suffered major injuries as the result of a Redding car crash. The Redding Police Department (RPD) stated that the crash happened late at night on the northern side of the city and involved two cars. Updates on the health conditions of the injured parties haven’t been reported and the cause of the crash is under RPD investigation.
Collision Information
The accident happened at around 11:44 a.m. at the intersection of Benton Drive and North Market Street. RPD indicated that a 69-year-old man was driving south on North Market in a blue 2002 Chevy Silverado. At the intersection of Benton Drive, the Chevy performed a U-turn and, during the turn, the driver lost control of the truck for unknown reasons. After losing control, the vehicle spun out and struck the concrete center median.
After striking the median, the Silverado overturned and rolled into southbound traffic lanes. At this time, the Silverado rolled over the hood and windshield of a 1989 Toyota Tercel that was being driven by an 84-year-old woman. Following the accident, the Tercel driver was able to navigate her vehicle to the side of the road.
Response
After the incident took place, witnesses reported the crash to RPD, who rushed responders out to the area. When RPD officials arrived, they found that both drivers had sustained major trauma as a result of the crash. Both individuals were placed on ambulances and transported to nearby hospitals. Details about their injuries were not made available. No other people were reported to have been involved in this collision.
Investigation of Redding Car Crash
While RPD continues their investigation into this incident, police have indicated that they do not believe driving under the influence was involved. Furthermore, RPD has stated that both of the injured drivers were wearing seatbelts when the crash took place.
Frequently, double-vehicle auto accidents occur because of multiple factors. Additionally, things that cause accidents aren’t the fault of involved drivers. Examples include malfunctioning pickup truck parts as well as poorly lit roads and more.
Rollover Accidents
When vehicles overturn, especially heavy vehicles like pickup trucks, it usually puts a large amount of force on the roof. If the roof isn’t properly constructed, it may crumple, intruding into the cabin and leaving occupants with major injuries. When this happens, the vehicle manufacturer may be legally considered an at-fault party and held financially responsible for the damages caused in accidents.
However, in order to claim payments from these companies, injured parties need to be able to prove that the roof was improperly builth. For this reason, crash survivors should preserve their wrecked vehicle as evidence following rollover collisions.
