Two Sustain Deadly Trauma in Marysville Area Auto Accident

On Monday, March 29, 2021, two people tragically lost their lives in a Marysville area auto accident. Personnel from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) report that this accident happened in the morning on a highway location between Marysville and Oroville and that it involved three vehicles. Officials have since identified the decedents as a male 31-year-old Yuba City resident and a 38-year-old man from Paradise.

Crash Information

CHP indicated that the crash happened on Highway 70 to the south of Lower Honcut Road. According to police, CHP received a call reporting a Ford F250 that was swerving between lanes and traveling at high speeds. Minutes after the vehicle was reported, it crashed head-on into a Ford Explorer on the northbound side of the highway.

The collision knocked the Explorer onto the eastern shoulder of the highway where it overturned and eventually caught on fire. The F250 also overturned, striking a northbound Lexus RX350 as it rolled. Photos taken at the scene show that the Explorer burned hot enough to severely singe the Lexus from around 15 feet away.

Response

CHP officers and other emergency response officials reached the accident site shortly after the incident happened. At the scene, responders found that both Ford drivers were severely hurt. Sadly, both men were officially pronounced deceased on-scene. The Lexus driver, a 41-year-old man from San Jose, was reportedly uninjured during the crash.

Investigation

CHP reports that their officers are conducting an investigation into this accident and has also indicated that they do not currently know what factors could have caused the collision. Often, accidents like this one involve multiple factors and may include causes such as defective auto parts or roadway hazards that are the fault of parties other than the involved drivers.

In rollover accidents especially, weak vehicle roofs are often considered a factor. If this is the case, the company that made the vehicle might be considered partially at-fault for the crash. However, to prove this, your lawyer needs access to the wrecked vehicle following the collision.

Private Investigations

Sadly, investigating deadly car accidents is very difficult. When police can’t interview involved drivers and ask them what happened, they are liable to overlook important details during investigations. Without a full picture of what took place, police might not uncover evidence that could make a critical difference in a wrongful death claim. Because wrongful death claims can be critical for families, it’s important to speak with a Marysville wrongful death lawyer and ask about conducting a private collision investigation.

Calling an Attorney is Important

Families that have been affected by a fatal accident may face a number of major challenges. In many cases, families lose their source of income or no longer have access to expensive, important services like cleaning, home repair, or childcare. Fortunately, it is often possible for families to get full compensation for these losses and more with the help of a skilled attorney.
