Orangevale Residents Injured in Citrus Heights Collision
A Citrus Heights two-vehicle accident on April 23 at about 8:15 p.m. caused critical injuries to a father and his young daughter and killed two other people. Cody Jackson, an Orangevale resident, left home with his daughter to take supplies to an older relative when the accident occurred. They had made their delivery to the relative and were on their way home when an SUV struck their pickup head-on after crossing the center divide along Auburn Boulevard, close to Greenback Lane.
Two-Vehicle Accident May Have Been Caused by Speeding
Emergency responders pronounced the two occupants of the SUV deceased at the accident scene. According to officers with the Citrus Heights Police Department, speeding may have been a factor that led to the crash. A memorial has been erected near the site in honor of the deceased.
Minor Still Hospitalized Following the Crash
Cody Jackson’s 32nd birthday was spent alone in the hospital because restrictions are in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He has returned home and is recovering from a broken jaw, along with other injuries. His daughter is still at UC Davis Children’s Hospital as of Monday and can only see one of her parents at a time. Her grandmother hasn’t seen the child since the two-vehicle accident happened. The child’s grandmother was quoted as saying that her granddaughter may not ever be able to walk again.
Community Support Following the Two-Vehicle Accident
The community of Orangevale is helping out to support the Jackson family, including setting up GoFundMe pages to assist with the mounting medical bills. One neighbor, Linda Pfister, held a toy drive to help lift the child’s spirits. The Jackson family deeply appreciates this outpouring of love from their community and says it is strengthening them to make it through this nightmare.
Obtaining Compensation Following an Accident Injury
My law office has a great deal of success handling accident injury cases to obtain compensation for our clients. Gathering strong evidence is key to presenting a robust case before the insurance company or going to court.
Investigation of a Two-Vehicle Accident
We send our investigators to the crash site immediately to begin collecting the evidence needed to support your claim. Some of the evidence they look for includes the following:
- The police report is checked for accuracy because sometimes, they contain errors.
- The investigators talk to the witnesses to the two-vehicle accident for corroborative statements.
- They search for nearby traffic surveillance cameras that could have caught the accident on tape. In addition, nearby businesses and homes might have surveillance cameras.
- Accident reconstruction is performed, which can show whether certain types of negligence were involved. It also shows the original positioning of the vehicles and how the two-vehicle accident occurred.
- Problems with road maintenance can result in a traffic crash. This can include poorly designed retaining walls, potholes, cracks or fissures in the road and others. The government entity charged with maintenance can be held responsible.
When the evidence is all gathered, it is handed over to our experienced lawyers to build a case for our client. It is used whether negotiating on our client’s behalf with an insurance company or preparing to take the case to court.
