Hazel Avenue Accident Results in Injuries

A two-vehicle collision between a Toyota Camry and another vehicle that was hauling a Big Red trailer occurred in Orangevale on January 5 that caused injuries. The accident was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) on northbound Hazel Avenue just south of Oak Avenue around 11:10 in the morning. Two lanes were blocked by the collision, and the fire department was called to assist when it was reported that one of the vehicles was on fire.

More Information About the Two-Vehicle Collision

Fortunately, instead of a fire, the smoke was found to be steam escaping from one of the vehicles. An investigation into the Orangevale two-vehicle collision is underway by the CHP to find out how it occurred and to assign fault.

Dangers of a Two-Vehicle Collision

Overall, a two-vehicle collision is one of the most common accidents you see on the road. They range from head-on collisions and broadside accidents to rear-end crashes. The speed at which the at-fault driver is driving largely determines the extent of the crash. For instance, in a head-on collision, speed increases the momentum involved in the impact, which can contribute to more severe injuries. While only 10 percent of all crashes are head-on collisions, the fatality rate is much higher than most of the others taken together.

Broadside Impact in a Two-Vehicle Collision

Broadside collisions at a high speed can cause the impacted vehicle to experience a rollover. Rollover accidents can be violent and deadly. Because of manufacturer negligence, the support infrastructure of some vehicles is unable to keep the weight from crushing down on the occupants in a rollover. It is very important to preserve the vehicle in a rollover so that engineers can examine it for defects, something our firm does routinely.

Rear-End Collisions and Risk of Cervical Injury

Rear-end collisions are extremely common and range from fender-benders to injury-causing crashes. In the latter category, the impact can cause occupants to be thrown forward and backward in a whiplike motion. This can cause cervical strain and sprain, which is commonly called whiplash. While most whiplash sufferers recover within six months, many continue to have life-altering symptoms for years.

Investigating a Two-Vehicle Collision

Our firm recognizes the need for solid evidence to successfully conclude the investigation into a client’s injury claim. To do this, we send our investigative team to the accident scene, where they question witnesses and obtain video footage of the accident from security cameras on local businesses and traffic lights. We also use accident reconstruction to get a clear view of the vehicles’ positions prior to, during, and after the accident.

Another area that is vitally important in a two-vehicle collision is the toll taken by auto defects. This is especially true in a rollover accident. Our investigators examine the vehicle for roof crush instability due to a lack of manufacturer care. If they find this defect, it is possible to hold the manufacturer responsible for a portion of the damages.

After checking police reports for mistakes, which are widely used by insurance companies to negotiate a settlement, our investigators prepare an in-depth report for our injury attorneys. This is used by the legal team to fashion a strong case that helps obtain the compensation the injured party deserves.
