Sunrise Boulevard Accident Sends One Person to a Hospital

A two-vehicle crash occurred in Fair Oaks on April 19, which resulted in an injury. The collision occurred shortly after 3:00 in the afternoon along Sunrise Boulevard at Wildridge Drive between an SUV and a white sedan. According to the police report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), one party was injured in the two-vehicle crash and was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and medical treatment. The collision is under investigation to determine which driver was at fault and how it occurred.

Causes of a Two-Vehicle Crash

Two-vehicle collisions can occur for many reasons. However, most of them involve negligence of some type. Some of the most common causes are below:

  • Distracted driving, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, results in around 1,000 traffic fatalities each day. Texting, talking on a cell phone, even one that is hands-free, or any other activity that takes the driver’s hands, eyes, or mind from the surrounding traffic is a form of distracted driving.
  • Driving drunk or under the influence of drugs is a major contributor to a two-vehicle crash. Intoxicated drivers cause around 30 percent of all traffic fatalities and many injuries yearly.
  • Speeding continues to be a major contributor to all types of accidents, including a two-vehicle crash. In half of the accidents of all types, speeding is a contributing factor.
  • Fatigue is another contributor to a two-vehicle crash. A driver who is overly tired has slowed reactions and trouble focusing on the roadway ahead. Falling asleep while driving can end up causing a serious accident.
  •  Aggressive driving can involve tailgating, making gestures at another motorist, lane switching, and other negligent behaviors. In its extreme, a driver may try to force another motorist off the roadway, causing a two-vehicle crash.
  • Auto defects can cause an accident. Brakes that suddenly fail, a blown tire, or problems with the accelerator or engine can all lead to an accident. When an auto defect is the cause, the manufacturer can be held responsible through an auto product liability claim. This is one of the reasons it is important to retain a vehicle following a collision, so it can be checked for defects.
  • Poorly maintained roadways may consist of foliage obscuring a sign, a malfunctioning traffic light, poor lighting, potholes or debris in the road, and others. The government entity responsible for the upkeep of the road may be held responsible. Because the time limit for filing against a government entity is much shorter than for other personal injuries, it is important to contact a lawyer as soon as possible. This ensures paperwork will be filed on time and the deadline met. Otherwise, the case will not be heard in court.
