Accident on North Parkway Involving Two Vehicles Results in Injury

A two-vehicle crash resulted in an injury on April 14 in Sacramento along Sky Parkway. The incident report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said the collision occurred between North Parkway and Klingon Street at around 5:35 p.m. One vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, had to be towed from the scene. No additional details were provided on the injury. The CHP is investigating to determine how the crash happened and to assign fault.

Accidents at Intersections

Intersections are where many two-vehicle accidents occur. Because traffic is moving from all directions and can be complicated by pedestrians, bicycle riders, and others, it is difficult for a motorist to stay alert to possible dangers. However, most two-vehicle intersection crashes are caused by negligence, including:

  • Distracted driving is responsible for a high number of intersection collisions. Motorists are usually distracted by a mobile device, such as talking on a cell phone or texting. Other distractions include eating and drinking while driving, changing a radio station, and others.
  • Drunk drivers still play a big role in the cause of a two-vehicle crash, despite community and police efforts to keep them off the road and provide education. A drunk driver may have problems staying in their lane, lacks judgment, and can even exhibit problems with their vision and ability to track. This makes it another common cause of a two-vehicle crash.
  • Reckless drivers exhibit a number of behaviors that are dangerous and can lead to a two-vehicle crash. They may tailgate, speed, run a red light, or refuse to yield to another motorist with the right of way.
  • Fatigued drivers are dangerous in their own way because they cannot stay alert to surrounding traffic. A fatigued driver can end up drifting into an oncoming lane, miss seeing a stop sign, and even fall asleep.

How a Lawyer Helps

A personal injury lawyer can help someone injured by a negligent motorist or other entity in obtaining compensation. Since accident injuries commonly cause lost time from work, exorbitant medical bills, and pain and suffering, filing a claim can recover those outstanding losses. Over our many years, we have handled numerous injury claims successfully, obtaining the compensation that our clients deserve.

Proving an Injury Claim

To file a claim for compensation, it has to be proved that a negligent person or other entity caused the client’s injury. This means that a two-vehicle crash has to be investigated to collect the evidence. Our investigators are highly experienced in doing that, including performing the following:

  • The police report is checked for mistakes because an error could affect the client’s ability to place a compensation claim.
  • The investigators perform accident reconstruction, which includes photographing the two-vehicle crash scene, the vehicles, and road damage. Damage to the roadway, such as skid marks or gouges, can indicate the at-fault motorist was speeding or lost control of their vehicle.
  • Witnesses are interviewed because someone who saw the collision as it happened may have spotted negligent behavior by the at-fault motorist. In addition, some witnesses have taped the accident on their cell phones, which can provide good evidence for the claim.
  • Nearby cameras are checked at intersections, roadways and businesses. In many cases, the two-vehicle crash was captured on film, which provides strong evidence.

Once the data is gathered, our injury attorneys take over to use it in building a strong claim for our client.
