Intersection Accident at Gerber Road Injures One Person
A two-vehicle crash in Sacramento on November 23 left one man injured in an intersection crash. The accident happened at Gerber Road and Stockton Boulevard in the Florin area around 1:06 in the afternoon. Emergency responders with the Sacramento Fire Department were summoned to the scene when it was reported that a male was lying in the roadway following the collision.
Additional Information About the Two-Vehicle Crash
It was determined that the man had suffered unspecified injuries. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is conducting an investigation into the two-vehicle crash in the Florin area to discover how it occurred. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol or drugs was a factor.
Intersections Can Contribute to a Two-Vehicle Crash
Intersections are the locations for around 40 percent of all traffic collisions, including a two-vehicle crash. This is because traffic converges in an intersection from many directions and is complicated by the presence of pedestrians, motorcycle riders, and others. Some of the main reasons for a two-vehicle crash at an intersection include:
- Rear-end collisions: A driver who is speeding, distracted, tailgating, or fatigued can easily crash into another vehicle waiting for the light to change at an intersection. Usually, these accidents are the fault of the driver to the rear.
- Speeding: Speeding contributes to many accidents, including a two-vehicle crash. A driver who is speeding can lose control of their vehicle or be unable to stop in time to prevent a collision. Obeying the speed limit is especially important at an intersection because some vehicles may be moving slowly, and others are waiting to make a turn.
- Running a red light or stop sign: Traffic infractions such as running a red light are often responsible for a two-vehicle crash. The other driver does not expect someone to come racing through an intersection against the light and cannot get out of the way in time to avoid a collision.
- Making an illegal or risky turn: Some drivers will make a right turn without having a clear view of oncoming traffic. Others may speed up to make a left turn when the blinking arrow is about the change, putting themselves in the path of oncoming traffic.
Investigating a Two-Vehicle Crash
Managing a proper investigation into a motor vehicle accident can gather the evidence needed to support an injury claim. Our investigators are experienced in gathering the needed evidence. This can include:
- The investigators look for inaccuracies to correct in the police report and talk to all the accident witnesses.
- They perform accident reconstruction, which can help indicate negligence on the part of the other driver and show positioning and damage to the vehicles. Photos of the accident scene and damage to the vehicles are part of this investigation.
- Traffic and road surveillance cameras are checked to see if the accident was taped as it happened. This sort of evidence is used when negotiating on the client’s behalf with the insurance company and is used if the case goes to civil court to be resolved.
- The investigators check for signs of government negligence. Since all roadways, intersections, etc. are under the jurisdiction of a city, county, or state government, they must be designed and maintained properly. If they are not, and an injury accident happens as a result, the government entity can be held responsible.
