One Person Injured in Two-Vehicle Sacramento Crash on I-5

On May 22, a two-vehicle Sacramento crash injured one person along northbound Interstate 5, just south of the on-ramp to east Arena Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident involved a Kia Sportage and pickup. When officers arrived at the accident scene, they found the pickup blocking the number two lane and the Kia along the right-hand side of the roadway.

Investigation Underway to Determine Cause of Two-Vehicle Sacramento Crash

Paramedics with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene to assess a person complaining of pain. Whether the patient was taken to a hospital for a follow-up examination was unreported. The CHP traffic accident detectives are conducting an investigation to determine the fault and how it happened.

Delayed Symptoms in a Traffic Collision

If you’ve been involved in a two-vehicle Sacramento crash, seeking medical attention is crucial, even if there aren’t any apparent injuries. Early medical evaluation can help identify potential injuries with delayed symptoms that worsen over time. A healthcare professional can provide a thorough examination and suggest the best treatment plan to address any injuries.

Symptom Delay Following a Car Accident

After a car collision, certain injuries might not show immediate symptoms but could develop over time. Here are some common injuries that might present delayed symptoms:

  • Headaches: Persistent headaches arising after an accident can be a sign of a traumatic brain injury (TBI) or concussion. Symptoms may appear anytime post-collision and can worsen over time. If you experience ongoing headaches, seek medical evaluation promptly, as they might indicate a more serious issue.
  • Neck pain: Whiplash is a frequent injury from car accidents. Its symptoms, like neck stiffness, severe pain, and limited range of motion, may take days or weeks to manifest. Immediate medical attention for neck pain is crucial to prevent long-term issues.
  • Back pain: Experiencing back pain following an auto accident can range from muscular problems to severe spinal conditions. It’s important to consult your doctor as soon as possible if you experience back pain, as it may signal a more serious injury.
  • Abdominal pain: Abdominal pain post-accident might point to internal injuries, including damage to organs or the spine. Internal injuries such as lacerations, organ contusions, and abdominal bruising can present delayed symptoms and require immediate medical attention.
  • Numbness or tingling: Symptoms of numbness or tingling could indicate nerve damage or a herniated disc in the neck or back due to the accident. These sensations, often starting in the hands or feet, can spread if untreated and necessitate prompt medical intervention.

Recognizing these delayed symptoms and seeking immediate medical attention can help avoid long-term health complications after a car collision. If you were injured in a two-vehicle Sacramento crash caused by a negligent driver, a Sacramento car accident lawyer can help you recover the compensation you deserve.
