Starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017, Ukiah’s 4H chapter will host a run to benefit its programs in the area that teach youth valuable agricultural and farming skills. Participants will run (or walk) a 5-kilometer track that offers views of rare plant species, old-growth oak trees, and a large boulder with prehistoric petroglyph-style carvings. Participants can expect volunteers at the event to shower them with green dye powder as they make their way along the course. Organizers of the event say that they aim for it to be a fun way for youth and community members to learn about improving their health through exercise. Calling all runners, walkers, and pedestrians – the race will begin at Nelson Vineyards at 8 a.m.
