Recovering Damages After a Serious Motorcycle Accident
When a motorist is responsible for causing a crash, an injured motorcycle rider may be entitled to recover compensation for their medical expenses stemming from the accident. This can also include lost wages if they are unable to work due to their injuries. Additionally, the injured party may seek compensation for future lost income and ongoing medical costs if the injuries extend beyond the settlement period. Furthermore, compensation can be pursued for physical pain and emotional distress suffered as a result of the incident.
Filing a Personal Injury Claim on Time
California law allows you two years to file a personal injury claim, as outlined in the statute of limitations. If you fail to file within this time frame, the court will dismiss your case. Despite having two years, it is unwise to wait until the deadline approaches.
Over time, evidence may disappear, and witnesses can become difficult to locate. Additionally, the longer you wait, the more likely it is that witnesses’ memories may fade. To give your case the best chance of success, it’s critical to connect with an injury lawyer as soon as possible after your accident.
