Older Man Injured on Browns Valley Road by Vacaville Hit-and-Run Driver

Vacaville police are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run that left a 73-year-old man and his dog injured on September 30. The incident occurred as the man walked his dog, Snowman, through the crosswalk at Browns Valley Road and Vaca Valley Parkway around 9:15 p.m. A vehicle struck them, driving away without stopping or checking their condition.

Vacaville Hit-and-Run Causes Serious Trauma

The collision threw the man onto the road, according to the Vacaville Police Department, while his dog was believed to have been dragged before managing to limp to a nearby house. Consequently, the man sustained a dislocated shoulder, a fractured hip, and a femur, requiring surgery. Snowman also suffered severe injuries in the Vacaville hit-and-run but has since rejoined his family.

Authorities Seek Help From the Public

Police urge residents to report any vehicles displaying new or suspicious front-end damage as they review surveillance footage from the area. Anyone with information on the hit-and-run should call (707) 469-4722 and talk to Officer Perkins.

Accountability in Hit-and-Run Incidents

Ensuring justice in a Vacaville hit-and-run requires thorough evidence collection, including securing witness accounts and surveillance footage. Law enforcement utilizes technology like license plate recognition to track offenders. Once identified, The injured person can pursue legal action to seek compensation for medical bills, property damage, and emotional distress, with the support of an injury lawyer.

How to Utilize Auto Insurance for Compensation After an Injury

In the unfortunate event of a Vacaville hit-and-run accident, injured individuals can often turn to their auto insurance policies to seek necessary compensation. A key component in many policies is Uninsured Motorist (UM) coverage. This coverage is specifically designed for scenarios where the responsible driver is either unidentified or does not have insurance. It can offer financial support for medical costs, lost income, and occasionally for pain and suffering.

For those without a personal uninsured or underinsured policy, an option may still be available. They might be able to use a family member’s insurance policy. This approach ensures that the policyholder’s rates remain stable and are not subject to increases in future premiums.
