Vacaville Injury Accident
I’m Ed Smith, a Vacaville car accident lawyer. In Vacaville, on Friday, March 31, 2017, at least two people were injured as the result of a two-vehicle car accident.
Accident Details
The car accident occurred at the intersection of Davis Street and Hume Way, only a short distance south of the Interstate 80 overpass on Davis Street and close to Cecil’s Hi-Tech Auto Care. According to officers from the Vacaville Police Department, the crash occured when the driver of a Ford Focus ran a red light by turning left at the intersection. While the Focus was driving through the intersection, it collided with a Honda Accord that was driving south on Davis Street towards the freeway on-ramp.
Injuries
Emergency medical responders from the Vacaville Fire Department sent two of the three victims of the car accident to the hospital for treatment of what were reported to be minor to moderate injuries. The third victim of the collision elected to refuse medical treatment and left the scene of the accident untreated. The specific nature of the injuries that the victims received are as of yet unreported.
Damages
Photos taken at the scene of the accident show significant damage to the front ends of both vehicles. Towing services were called in order to remove the wrecked vehicles from the roadway. There were no apparent damages to any other vehicles or nearby structures.
Vacaville Injury Accident – Cause of Crash
The Vacaville Police Department has not stated whether or not they believe alcohol and/or drugs to have played a part in causing the accident. Possible causal factors of the collision include distracted driving and simple negligence of traffic safety laws. Investigation of the incident is ongoing.

Additionally, of the 2.5 million yearly accidents at intersections, about 165,000 of them are typically caused by a driver who runs a red light. The estimated number of fatalities in the U.S. that are caused by drivers running red lights is somewhere between 700 and 800 per year.
What Makes Intersections Unsafe?
The leading factor in intersection accidents is driver negligence. Drivers often underestimate the time they need to completely cross an intersection and, consequently, run a red light. If a driver is not paying attention to the light or driving too quickly, they may not stop in time to avoid a serious accident.
One good way to increase the safety of intersections is to slow somewhat before entering an intersection. This maximizes the time that you and other drivers have to respond to potentially dangerous traffic situations.
