Vallejo Bicyclist Dies After Local Auto Accident

On Saturday, October 24, 2020, a Vallejo bicyclist tragically lost his life after being involved in an auto accident. The Solano County Sheriff’s Office has identified the bicyclist as a 30-year-old Vallejo man, Sotero Campos. According to the Vallejo Police Department (VPD), the crash involved the bicycle and a single passenger vehicle. Additionally, no other individuals suffered injuries during the accident.

Crash Information

VPD reports indicate that the crash happened at around 7:12 p.m. at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Sacramento Street on the northwestern side of the city, just off of the Highway 37 interchange. Further information about the specific events leading up to the accident has not yet been reported.

When police reached the crash site, they found Campos lying in the roadway with serious injuries. Reportedly, officers attempted to perform life-saving measures. However, by the time medical personnel arrived on-site, Campos was tragically pronounced deceased.

Investigation

Police reported that the vehicle driver involved in the accident remained at the scene and cooperated with police during response and preliminary investigations. However, no suspected factors have been reported and a full investigation into the cause of this accident is ongoing. Police have asked that anybody with information about this incident get in touch with the VPD traffic division to report what they know. Anybody with relevant details should contact police at (707) 648-4013.

The process of investigating a fatal bicycle accident like this one can be a difficult job for police because they cannot ask the cyclist about what happened. Because of this, important evidence may go unnoticed during their investigation, leaving families unable to obtain the payments that they deserve. For this reason, it’s important to get in touch with a Vallejo bicycle accident lawyer who has experience conducting private accident investigations.
