Vallejo Car Accident

I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo personal injury attorney. On May 6, 2017, a three-vehicle collision in Vallejo caused damages to three cars as well as a local storefront and injuries to the driver of one of the vehicles.

Accident Details

According to Vallejo Fire Department Battalion Chief Cliff Campbell, the accident occurred at about 8 p.m. at the Vallejo Plaza Shopping Center. The center is located off of the southbound side of Sonoma Boulevard between the intersections of Redwood and Valle Vista Streets.

The incident started in the large parking lot in the middle of the plaza when two vehicles, a white sedan and a gray pickup truck, collided. These two vehicles were forced off of the roadway by the impact of the collision and ended up colliding with the glass facade of a nearby business, Glamour Beauty Supply. During this, another vehicle, a black station wagon, became involved in the incident when it was struck by the gray pickup truck. However, the third vehicle did not collide with the storefront.

Possible Causes of Vallejo Car Accident

The Vallejo Police Department currently has this incident under investigation and are working to determine the causal factors that led up to the collision. However, Campbell noted that he suspects excessive speed as well as the running of a stop sign on the part of one of the vehicles to have contributed significantly to the accident. There have been no reports issued as to whether or not officers believe any of the drivers to have been under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Damages and Injuries

Photos from the incident show significant damage to the front ends of the pickup truck and sedan as well as damages to the side of the station wagon. The large glass plate in the front of Glamour Beauty Supply was destroyed, but the business’s manager reported that no other significant damages to their property had been sustained.

According to emergency medical responders, the only person injured during this accident was one of the drivers who was involved in it. The driver was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. The exact nature of their injuries was not reported, but it was reported that the injuries were not serious.

Speeding in Parking Lots

While parking lots may seem like the least likely place for an accident to happen, they can be just as dangerous as roadways and, in some ways, even pose a higher risk of injury accidents. Parking lots often require more attentive driving as traffic is moving in varying directions and pedestrians are not confined to crosswalks. Speeding in a parking lot poses a serious threat to pedestrians who are not only not protected by the visual warnings of crosswalks, but don’t expect vehicles to be traveling at high speeds.
