Vallejo Crash Critically Injures Woman
I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo car accident lawyer. According to the Vallejo Police Department, on Sunday, January 23, 2016, a possible DUI collision in Vallejo resulted in life-threatening injuries.
Collision Details
Officials reported that the collision occurred at around 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of Curtola Parkway and Lemon Street. When the officers arrived, they found that a crash had taken place involving two vehicles, a 2000 Honda CR-V and a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire.
The Pontiac had apparently been driving north on Lemon street while the Honda had been driving west on Curtola Parkway when the two cars collided in the intersection. Witnesses interviewed at the scene of the accident told responding officers that both the southbound and the northbound lights at the intersection had been green when the accident occurred.
Damages and Injuries
The Honda sustained quite a bit of property damage after the collision causing it to spin out and strike the pole of a traffic light. The passenger of the Honda, a 35-year-old woman from Sacramento, was immediately rushed by ambulance to the nearest hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda, a 35-year-old man also from Sacramento, was also taken to the hospital and medical officials reported that his injuries were significant.
The Pontiac did not receive such significant damage. The occupants of the vehicle, all residents of Vallejo, only received minor injuries. They were, however, all taken to the hospital for treatment of their minor injuries and screening for major injuries that may not have been immediately apparent to first responders.
Call to Action
Police have reported that they currently suspect that driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is a contributing factor to this incident. An investigation into the accident is ongoing and the Vallejo Police Department has asked anybody who might have information about the incident to call Corporal Jeremy Huff by contacting the Vallejo Police Department Traffic Division at their number, (707) 649-3569.
There is currently no more information regarding the status of the injuries of any of those involved in the crash.
Driving Under the Influence
Driving while intoxicated is responsible for almost one-third of all automobile accident related deaths in the United States and many of those who cause accidents while they are under the influence have a history of doing so. It is important to remember that drunk drivers do not only cause their own injuries and deaths, but the injuries and deaths of innocent passengers, drivers and pedestrians.
Anybody who is determined to operate their vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is considered to be negligent and is liable to pay for damages and injuries incurred as a result of any accident they are involved in.
