Vallejo Fatal Accident Data
Vallejo Fatal Accident Data – Residents of Vallejo know that 2018 has been one of the city’s worst years for traffic accidents. In fact, as of Monday, August 20, 2018, the city had already seen a 333 percent increase in fatal crashes from the previous year. In response to the bad streak of collisions, the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) has increased patrols at key locations within the city. Additionally, the city has added safer pedestrian crossing areas along Sonoma Boulevard, a street that has seen numerous accidents. However, residents should do everything they can to stay safe. One of the ways to reduce your risk of being involved in a crash is to know when and where they are likely to happen in your city.
Vallejo Car Accidents Overview
Over the past ten years (2008-2017), 4,812 traumatic car accidents took place within Vallejo. The vast majority of these accidents did not involve severe injuries. However, 6.5 percent left people with severe trauma, and 1.6 percent of the crashes were fatal. This is slightly less than the percentage for Solano County as a whole, for which 1.8 percent of accidents were fatal.
Out of Vallejo’s 77 fatal collisions, nearly half involved pedestrians. This is a much higher rate than that of both Fairfield and Solano County, where pedestrian accidents only made up 19 and 22 percent of fatal accidents, respectively. Vallejo’s fatal collisions also involved four bicycle accidents and nine motorcycle crashes, accounting for about 17 percent of fatality collisions overall.
