Vallejo Man Loses Life in Napa Crash
I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo personal injury lawyer. Officials have reveled that an area crash that occurred on Wednesday, July 17, 2018, left one man fatally injured. Reports stated that the accident took place during the afternoon in a rural area of southern Napa County. The crash involved one vehicle and officers noted that one passenger also received injuries. County officials have only stated that the fatally injured man was a 30-year-old Vallejo resident and are waiting to release his identity until his family is notified. I’d like to offer my support and sympathy to all those who are grieving over the loss of their friend and/or family member due to this horrible accident.
Collision Details
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers stated that the accident occurred at around 4:20 p.m. on Highway 221. The Vallejo man had been driving a 2008 Chevy at unknown speeds south of the Napa Valley Corporate Way intersection when he apparently lost control of the vehicle. Reports state that the Chevy drove off of the western edge of the highway and collided head-on with a utility pole.
Response
CHP sent out emergency response staff immediately after being notified of the crash. When responders arrived at the scene, they found two occupants inside of the Chevy. The driver had suffered severe injuries. Tragically, the young man was officially declared deceased by medics at the site of the crash.
Medics also found a passenger in the wrecked Chevy with injuries and had him put on a ground ambulance and taken to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. The passenger was identified as a 33-year-old Vallejo resident and hospital staff reported that his injuries were not life-threatening.
Investigation
Officers said that they do not know why the driver lost control of his vehicle. CHP stated that they are investigating multiple possible accident causes, but have not mentioned any suspected collision factors.
Wrongful Death
When fatal accidents happen, families are often seriously impacted. Not only is the loss of a loved one difficult emotionally, but a car accident fatality can come with high medical costs and a death in the family can mean the loss of a source of income.
For these reasons, families of people who lose their lives in accidents are often able to claim money from parties that were responsible for the crash. These parties can include reckless drivers, but can also be government entities responsible for dangerous roads, and the sellers, manufacturers, or retailers of a faulty auto part.
